3) Driving of fuser unit
• Drive for the fuser unit is provided by the main motor and is transmitted to the
fuser coupling gear via the respective gears.
Drive is then transmitted to the heat roller drive gear thus driving the heat
roller.
• The paper exit sensor lever is moved by the paper exiting the fuser unit, thereby
activating the paper exit sensor.
4) Operation of cleaning web
• The cleaning web contacts the top of the heat roller in order to clean the roller
during the copy cycle.
• The cleaning web, composed of rolled unwoven cloth impregnated with silicone
oil, supplies silicone oil to the heat roller to prevent the offset of toner and
markings onto the copy. The heat roller transfers oil to the pressure roller
through normal contact.
• The cleaning web is driven by the heat roller drive gear, via the reduction gear
and is advanced very slowly during the copy cycle.
• The cleaning web has a red stripe near the end of the web. This provides a
visual indication when the web is near the end of its life.
