CITIA AC Trouble Shooting

The controller plugs into a Y harness behind the
seat pivot shroud. Each end of the Y harness will
be marked LH or RH. The shroud will need removed
to access the harness.
Symptom: Unit labors or travels slow going up hill
and goes fast down.
The controller must be plugged into the cor-
rect hand of the Y harness. The controller should
connect to RH for right hand units and LH for left
hand units. The LH plug will have double wires go-
ing to the orange and purple terminals.
To be operational the unit must be plugged into
the wall, seat in the locked riding position and no
obstruction on the footrest safety pan. The unit will
not run if on the final limit at the lower or upper end
of the track.
Symptom: Unit will not run.
Make sure the seat is rotated in the side
riding position with the locking arm resting on the
swivel lock switch under the swivel locking ring.
The wires on the switch should be on the Common
and Normally Open contacts.
If the footrest was removed to convert the
unit to a different hand, verify the footrest and seat
cut-off harness is reconnected to the chassis and
no wires got pulled loose from the switches.
The footrest safety pan should be centered
on the footrest. Center the footrest and see if the
unit will travel.
Check for house line voltage at the wall out-
let.
Verify the circuit breaker on the junction box
has not tripped.
Verify that the unit is not on the final limits.
Unplug from the wall and remove the hole plug from
the Pivot Shroud and use a nut driver or socket and

back the unit away from the end cap. Replace the
hole plug in the shroud and plug the unit back into
the wall and try operation of the unit again.
DOING SO
at the edge of the plug connect to the motor. Using
a DC voltmeter, check for voltage output from the
controller on the unused Y harness. It will be in the
90 Vdc range.
from the Y harness and use a voltmeter to check for
continuity across the black and white wires at the
edge of the Y connector. If there is continuity and
also had voltage on the step above, the motor is
bad.
unplug the unit from the wall outlet and remove the
footrest pivot and unit shroud. Check for the motor
connection to the harness. If connected, remove
the motor wires from the harness and recheck mo-
tor continuity. If the motor now has continuity the
problem will be at the motor connection to the har-
ness.
the shroud remove, plug the unit back into the
wall outlet and check for line voltage at the right 2
terminals on the controller board marked L1 and L2.
If voltage is present but no motor output voltage
with the safety string completed through the footrest
and seat cut-off switch, the control board will need
replaced.
there is a voltage at the wall plug, the problem will
be isolated to the junction box, trailing cable, or
trailing cable connection to the chassis or failure
of the final limit switch on the bottom of the chas-
sis closes to the pinion gear. Isolate and repair as
required.

it will show closed if the unit is not at its right limit
as you would sit on the seat. The switch would be
open when the unit is on the end cap.
the Y harness controls the left movement travel limit
switch. There should be continuity when the unit is
not to its left travel limit as you sit on the seat and
would be open when it is on the left end cap zone.
Symptom: Unit will not run by the call send(s).
