FRONT FORK
REMOVAL
• Place a block under the chassis tubes.
• Remove the fork covers, brake hose guide and brake hose
cover.
• Remove the brake caliper. (15-6)
• Remove the front wheel. (14-3)
• Loosen the fork upper clamp bolts 1.
• Loosen the front fork cap bolt 2 1 – 2 turns to facilitate later
disassembly.
• Hold the fork body and loosen the fork lower clamp bolts 3.
• Remove the front forks.
DISASSEMBLY
NOTE:
Set rebound damping adjuster to the softest settings before dis-
assembling. Record the setting before turning the adjuster.
• Thoroughly clean the fork before disassembly.
Scratches or other damage on the inner tube or on the
oil seal lip will cause oil leak.
Avoid scratching or damaging the inner tube or the oil
seal. Use a mild detergent or car wash soap and
sponge out dirt with plenty of water.
