Audio Warning System

Your MerCruiser power package may be equipped with an Audio Warning System.
The audio warning system buzzer will sound if one of the following occur:
1
Insufficient Oil Pressure
2
Excessive Engine Temperature
3
Transmission temperature is too high.
NOTE: To provide a test of the system:
Carburetor Models - the buzzer will sound when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position, prior to crank-
ing the engine. Once the engine starts, the buzzer should stop.
EFI Models - the buzzer will sound for 2 seconds when ignition switch is turned to RUN position, prior to cranking
the engine. After 2 seconds the buzzer should stop.
Avoid engine damage. Do not operate engine once the buzzer has sounded EXCEPT TO AVOID A
HAZARDOUS SITUATION. The Audio Warning System will not protect the engine from damage. It is
designed to warn the operator that a problem has occurred.
When the buzzer sounds with the engine running, stop engine immediately. Investigate cause and correct it, if
possible. If cause cannot be determined, consult your Authorized MerCruiser Dealer.
