Cleaning
The eMap is constructed of high quality materials
and does not require user maintenance other than
cleaning. Clean the unit using a cloth dampened with a
mild detergent solution and then wipe dry. Avoid
chemical cleaners and solvents that may damage plastic
component s.
Storage
Storing alkaline batteries in the unit for extended
periods is not recommended. In order to reduce the
chance for battery leakage in the battery compartment
and map data cartridge slot, remove the batteries when
storing the unit for more than six months.
Water Immersion
The eMap is not waterproof. It may withstand
momentary immersion if retrieved quickly and wiped
dry. However, the battery compartment and map
cartridge slot may retain residual water and should be
wiped out with a clean cloth and allowed to air dry with
the compartment cover removed before reuse.
Impact Resistance
The eMap unit will withstand occasional impact from
hand to floor without major damage. However, if
frequently used in an outdoor environment, the Impact
Resistant Cover is recommended. Refer to the List of
Optional Accessories on page 29.
