L5 CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL INDICATOR SWITCH
NOTE: Verify that the brake fluid level is full.
Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch C162
L6 CHECK CIRCUIT 531 (DG/YE) AND CIRCUIT 512 (TN/LG) FOR SHORT TO GROUND
L7 CHECK CIRCUIT 531 (DG/YE) AND CIRCUIT 512 (TN/LG) FOR AN OPEN

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the instrument cluster and parking brake switch, and
greater than 10,000 ohms between the instrument cluster and ground?
Yes
GO to L5.
No
REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
Measure the resistances between brake fluid level indicator switch pin 1 (component side) and fluid level indicator
switch pin 3 (component side); and between fluid level indicator switch pin 2 (component side) and fluid level
indicator switch pin 3 (component side).
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms between fluid level indicator switch pin 1 and fluid level
indicator switch pin 3, and less than 5 ohms between fluid level indicator switch pin 2 and fluid level
indicator switch pin 3?
Yes
GO to L6.
No
INSTALL a new brake fluid level switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
If equipped with RABS, disconnect the anti-lock brake control module C222.
Measure the resistances between instrument cluster C236 pin 18, circuit 531 (DG/YE), harness side and ground;
and between instrument cluster C236 pin 19, circuit 512 (TN/LG), harness side and ground.
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
Yes
GO to L7.
No
REPAIR circuit 531 (DG/YE) and circuit 512 (TN/LG) as necessary. TEST the system for normal operation.
Measure the resistances between instrument cluster C236 pin 18, circuit 531 (DG/YE), harness side and brake
fluid level indicator switch C162 pin 3, circuit 531 (DG/YE), harness side; and between instrument cluster C236
pin 19, circuit 512 (TN/LG), harness side and brake fluid level indicator switch C162 pin 2, circuit 512 (TN/LG),
harness side.
