Caution
If, after the ignition is switched on, the oil
pressure/low oil warning light remains on
and 'oil Low' is visible in the display screen,
do not start the engine until the oil level
has been physically checked.
Running the engine with insufficient oil will
cause engine damage.
With the motorcycle upright and off the side
stand, check to see if oil is visible in the sight-
glass at a point mid-way between the upper
(maximum) and lower (minimum) horizontal
lines marked on the crankcase.
If it is necessary to top off the oil level,
remove the filler plug and add oil, a little at a
time, until the level registered in the sight
glass is correct. Re-install and tighten the filler
plug.
Note:
An accurate indication of the level
of oil in the engine is only shown
when the engine is at normal
operating temperature and the
motorcycle is upright (not on the
side/center stand).
Start the engine and run at idle for
approximately five minutes.
Stop the engine, then wait for at least three
minutes for the oil to settle.
Note the oil level visible in the sight glass.
When correct, oil should be visible in the
sight-glass at a point mid-way between the
upper (maximum) and lower (minimum)
horizontal lines marked on the crankcase.
If necessary, top off the oil level as described
earlier.
Maintenance and Adjustment
Once the correct level is reached, re-install
and tighten the filler plug.
