Chapter 5 Security configuration

5.1 Security

When connected to the Internet, computers in a LAN face the risk of being attacked or
accessed by unauthorized users on the Internet. Implementing adequate and effective
security measures to protect LAN is thus vital to ensure safe and comfortable networking.
The product is equipped with the following security functions for always-on connection to
the Internet.
NAPT (IP masquerading)
A global IP address provided by ISP is converted to private IP addresses in LAN to
prevent outsiders on the Internet from identifying PC's within the LAN. Unauthorized
access from the outside is thus blocked or made extremely difficult.
Stateful Packet Inspection
The product utilizes Stateful Packet Inspection as its firewall technology.
