Step #3: Initialize the VM Unit

This procedure should be performed whenever a new VM Unit is being added to a DBS 576

phone system, to ensure it will work properly.

The following procedure clears all VM Unit settings to their default values. This means that

System-Level programming for the VM Unit should be performed before
initializing the VM Unit. If you haven't already done so, follow Step #1
instructions on pg. 1-6.
The DBS 576 main cabinet should still be powered-off.

Within approximately 40 seconds, the CPC card's
LED will blink in shorter intervals.
The main menu (PERSONAL DIAL, SYSTEM
DIAL, etc.) will appear on Large-Display phones.
About 30 seconds later, the VSSC Card's top LED
should "fast-run" (steadily blink green). You cannot
enter Programming Mode until this happens.
Enter Programming Mode by punching in:
ON/OFF PROG ** 9999
The hard disk drive (HDD) must be initialized. Enter VM Unit-Level Settings by
punching in:
FF7 0 BSS 03 Hold CONF
where
is Cabinet 1-6, and

where the VSSC Card is located.
