For general precautions on installing the phone system, refer to Section 300-
Installation of the DBS 576 Technical Manual.

The VM Unit's hard disk drive (HDD), located on the VSSC card, is susceptible to
impact or vibration which could cause a fault in the unit. To prevent this damage
from occurring, make sure of the following before transporting the unit to the

The VSSC Card must be installed in Free Slot 11 ("FS11") of CAB-96, or FS5 in
TRS/ARS

The VPU/4 and/or VPU/8 Card(s) must be installed in FS9 and/or FS10 within the

same CAB-96. In CAB-40, the VPU/4 or VPU/8 card goes in FS4.
Applications
(CAB-96 only) If using only one VPU card, install it in FS10.
