To rebuild your hard drive, do the following:
1. Power up your Acer system.
2. When prompted (after memory testing completes), press CTRL + ALT + ESC to enter BIOS CMOS setup.
3. Insert the Acer Resource CD into your CD-ROM drive.
4. From the main setup screen, select the Boot Options section, and change the Boot Sequence to the following
order:

[Hard Disk]
5. Press ESC twice. When prompted, 'Do you want to save CMOS data?', select [Yes], then press ENTER. The
system will reboot from the CD-ROM.
6. After booting from the CD-ROM, you will see the Acer CPR options displayed. Select Rebuild Drive and
follow the onscreen instructions.
7. When prompted, enter the DS number (DS.xxxxx.xxx) to select the software to be installed.
If you are rebuilding your hard drive with the same operating system, use the DS number on the label located on the lower right side of your
system chassis.
If you are changing the operating system (for example, from Windows 98 to Windows 95), refer to the Acer Resource CD. The DS numbers for
the operating systems you can install are printed on the front of the Acer Resource CD.
8. After you complete rebuilding your hard disk drive, remove your Acer Resource CD when prompted and
repeat steps 2, 4, and 5 to enter the BIOS CMOS setup. Set the Boot Sequence back to its original
configuration:

9. Follow step 5 to exit setup.
10. Find your Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity (COA) ID number on the cover of your Windows manual (front
cover for Windows 98; back cover for Windows 95 and Windows NT). Enter this number when requested.
