3. HARDWARE SETUP

Before you can start to install this mainboard, some hardware setting is required
so that it will work perfectly. To configure the mainboard is a simple task, only a
few jumpers, connectors, cables and sockets need to be selected and configured.
This section will show all the connectors and jumpers on the mainboard.

3.1 INSTALLATION OF CPU

There are two CPU sockets on the mainboard designed for Pentium ™ II,
Pentium ™ !!! or Celeron™ processors. The CPU sockets on the mainboard are
the Slot 1 and Socket 370 as shown in the following picture:

Before you can install the CPU onto the mainboard, please make sure:
1. Be sure to remove the power cable from the PC system when
installing CPU or any other components . (refer to page 3-14)
2. If the hardware monitoring chip W83783S is install on U1.
Please use JP2 setting to decide which thermal resistor will be
active so that it will detect the CPU temperature. (JP2 is
optional on the mainboard and it is installed on the board
when U1 has the W83783S installed),. (refer to page 3-18)
