Both the flatbed and the automatic

Advanced Document Processing—Scanning
Advanced document processing functions available when scanning
depend upon the scanning method being used.
Scan from a PC
When you scan from a PC via the USB interface, all document
processing functions are available in the Twain or WIA driver available
through the LinkMagic or PaperPort 11 SE application bundled with the
magicolor 2590MF all-in-one or through another application.
Scan to Email
When you scan to email via the Ethernet interface, in addition to
specifying a scan resolution, you can set the following features in the
configuration menu. You can identify default settings for all documents
scanned to email or customize the settings for a particular document.
Image Format—Select PDF or TIFF
Scan Resolution—600 x 600 dpi, 300 x 300 dpi, 150 x 150 dpi
Color / B&W
Document Source—ADF or flatbed
Coding (Compression) Method—Select MH (Group 3 encoding),
MR (Group 3 2D encoding), or MMR (Group 4 encoding). Most
fax machines are compatible with the MH coding method, which
provides the lowest compression ratio. MMR provides the highest
compression ratio, but not all fax machines are compatible with
this coding method.
Push Scan
Using the LinkMagic scan utility, you can configure the B&W and Color
buttons on the control panel to automatically scan documents back to the
PC via USB—in a specific Scan Mode. For example, you can program
the Color button to scan documents as full-color image files in BMP,
JPEG, PDF or TIFF file formats using the Scan Image mode. You can
program the B&W button to scan documents as black-&-white PDF files
using the Scan Document mode selection. Available Scan Modes include:
Scan Image: Scans the document as an image in color, black-&-
white, or gray and as a BMP, JPEG, PDF or TIFF file.
Scan Document: Scans pages as a document in color, black-&-
white, or gray and as a BMP, JPEG, PDF or TIFF file.
Scan to Clipboard: Scans document to a viewing area where you
can select the entire image or specific areas of the document to
copy to a clipboard.
