Adjusting the display of home screen icons
You can change the number of icons displayed on the home screen, so that between 1 to 4 columns are shown. While
learning to use the smartphone, some users find the 1 Column setting easiest to use.
Adjusting the trackpad sensitivity
You can set how the trackpad responds to your touch. A high sensitivity level requires less pressure than a lower sensitivity
level; 20 is the least sensitive, while 100 is the most sensitive. When learning to use the smartphone, some users find 20
the easiest setting to use.
Turn on or turn off Key Describer mode
The BlackBerry Screen Reader provides a feature called Key Describer mode, which helps you learn and remember the
layout of the keyboard and keys on your BlackBerry smartphone.
To turn on Key Describer mode, press the right convenience key twice and press any button or key on your smartphone.
The BlackBerry Screen Reader will echo the key pressed and help you create a map of the key layout from memory.
To turn off Key Describer mode, press the right convenience key again.
The Key Describer mode will turn off automatically if you do not press any key within 10 seconds of turning it on.
Shortcuts: BlackBerry Screen Reader
In these shortcuts, the key references are to the numbered keys on the alphanumeric keyboard. To use the BlackBerry
Screen Reader shortcuts, the application must be turned on. Depending on the typing input language that you are using,
some shortcuts might not be available.

Read your current screen
Read the current date and time
Read the number of missed calls and unread messages
Change the amount of punctuation symbols read back
When Key Describer mode is on, you can discover the
input and shortcut functions of each physical key upon
pressing the keys.
When Command Mode is on, you can use the shortcut
features that comes with the BlackBerry Screen
Reader.
Press the right convenience key and the * key.
Press the right convenience key and the 3 key.
Press the right convenience key and the 6 key.
Press the right convenience key and the 7 key.
