V 2.6
HOW TO SERVICE THE AIR FILTER
CAUTION! Operating the engine with a damaged air filter or with no air filter will allow dirt to enter the engine,
causing rapid engine wear.
A dirty air filter will restrict airflow to the carburator, reducing engine performance. If the engine is used in very
dusty areas, clean the air filter more frequently than specified in the maintenance schedule.
1. Remove the air cleaner outside cover as shown in Figure 6. Be careful to prevent dirt and debris from falling
into the air cleaner assembly.
2. Remove the air filter from the air filter housing.
3. Inspect the air filter. Clean dirty air filter with warm water and mild soap. Allow air filter to dry thoroughly
before re-installation
a.
Replace the air filter if it is too dirty or worn.
4. Install the air filter assembly onto the carburator and secure with screw.
NOTE: Do not use pressurized air or solvents to clean the filter. Pressurized air can damage the filter and
solvents will dissolve the filter.
