VENT RUN SUPPORT
REqUIREMENTS
Supporting Vertical Vent Runs
Note: Proper venting support is very
important. NEVER use the fireplace to
support the weight of the venting.
Support the vertical portion of the venting
system every 8 feet (2.4 m) above the fire-
place vent outlet (see Figure 21).
Use Support Straps (cat. no. SV4.5SU;
see "Accessory" section in this manual) or
conventional plumber's tape (not provided).
Secure the plumber's tape to the framing
members with nails or screws. Loop the
plumber's tape around the vent, securing the
ends of the tape to the framing. Use #6 x
1/2" sheet metal screws to secure the support
straps to the vent pipe.

NOTICE:
horizontal runs on a steady, (i.e., no
"dips"), slightly positive incline of
approximately 1/4 inch rise-per-foot (20
millimeters rise-per-meter) horizontal,
in a direction away from the fireplace.
(Slightly smaller rise-per-foot run ratios
are acceptable.) Use a carpenter's level
to measure from a constant surface, and
adjust support straps as necessary.
