    REMOTE OPERATION - 11 - REMOTE OPERATION • Install batteries in the remote control The remote control requires two "AA" batteries. 1 Push the mark and hold it, then slide the cover in the direction of the arrow to remove it. Note: When replacing the batteries, remove the old batteries and keep the POWER button depressed for 10 seconds before inserting fresh batteries.

    Tips You'll need to set the clock when first hooking up your VCR, and any time the power goes out for more than 1 hour. When you first plug in the VCR or after a power outage, the clock display will read "--:--".

    PRE-TUNING THE VCR TUNER PRE-TUNING THE VCR TUNER Note: An antenna or cable must be connected to the VCR before you begin this operation. • Presetting the received channels without using a cable box (Hookups [A], [B], [C] or [D]) 1 Press the POWER button to turn on the VCR.

    Note: This setup should be performed if you receive all channels through a cable box (Hookups [E], [F] or [G]). The VCR can be programmed to: • Automatically select channels on the cable box during a timer record or VCR Plus+ delayed recording operation.

    • Rewinding the tape When the video cassette reaches the end of the tape, the VCR will stop automatically and automatically rewind the tape. • If you press the POWER button while the tape is rewinding, the power will not shut off until the tape has been completely rewound.

    Auto Head Cleaning System This system cleans the video heads automatically when a cassette is inserted and ejected or the VCR is turned on or off while a cassette is in the VCR, to prevent dirt from accumulating on the heads.
