Section 2 - Hardware

All connectors, LEDs and buttons are on the front of the ESP-2 OPTO serial hub, as
shown in Figure 1.

The POWER connector is located in the lower left corner of the front panel; see
Electrical on page 5 for more information.
The Ethernet port supports 10/100 auto detect (speed and duplex) connections. The
LAN connector accepts 10BaseT or 100BaseT LAN interface cable. A CAT 5 cable
is required for 100BaseT operation. Table 5 on page 4 lists the pin assignments.
The PORT 1 and PORT 2 connectors are standard RJ-45 8-pin jacks. Table 4 on
page 4 lists the pin assignments.
Table 3 describes the LEDs and buttons on the front panel.

Item
Description
POWER
The POWER LED is lit when the hub is connected to a power source.
The ON LINE LED is lit (not blinking) when the hub's self-test and
ON LINE
initialization procedures have completed successfully.
The 10 LED is lit when the hub is connected to a 10 Mbps LAN, and the 100
10
LED blinks when traffic is present.
The 100 LED is lit when the hub is connected to a 100 Mbps LAN, and the 10
100
LED blinks when traffic is present.
RESET
Pushing the RESET button reboots the hub; see Resetting on page 8.
Pushing and holding the INIT button restores the hub to factory defaults; see
INIT
Reinitializing on page 8.

2.1 Pin Assignments

Table 4 lists the pin assignments for each port's RJ-45 connector. This information is
also provided on a label on the bottom of the hub.
