Switches & connectors
DIP switch (AXIS 241Q/QA) - A corresponding line termination switch is supplied for each
video input. All units are shipped with line termination enabled for each video input; that
is, with the DIP switch set in the down position.
DIP switch (AXIS 241S/SA) - Upon delivery the dip switch on the AXIS 241S/SA is
configured for composite video input, as follows:

Notes:
•If the video source is to be connected in parallel with other equipment, disable the input termi-
nation by turning the corresponding DIP switch to the up position (OFF). Failure to do so may
cause reduced image quality.
•The AXIS 241S/SA supports conversion between composite video and Y/C (S-Video) using a Y/C
to BNC cable (not supplied).
DIP switch (AXIS 242S IV) - The AXIS 242S IV provides a single DIP switch for line
termination of the video input. Slide the switch to the right to enable.
Control Button - Press this button to restore the factory default settings, as described in
Resetting to the factory default settings, on page 56, or to install using AXIS Internet
Dynamic DNS Service (See the Axis Video Server Installation Guide).
Video Input - Each supported video input (1 or 4 depending on the model) is connected
using a coax/BNC connector. Physical connections made using 75 ohm coaxial video cable
have a recommended maximum length of 800 feet (250 meters).
Video Output (AXIS 241S/SA) - Loopthrough connection to the video signal from the
Video In connector. Terminated with a coaxial/BNC connector. Allows direct connection of
e.g. an external monitor. Set DIP switch to OFF when in use.
Video Output (AXIS 242S IV) - Video is available on this output when the Digital Signal
Processor (DSP) is running an Intelligent Video module.
Line Out (AXIS 241SA and AXIS 241QA only) - Mono audio output (line level), which can
be connected to a public address (PA) system or an active speaker with a built-in amplifier.
A pair of headphones can also be attached.
Line/Mic In (AXIS 241QA and AXIS 241SA only) - Single 3.5mm input for a mono
microphone, or line level mono signal (only the left channel is used from a stereo signal).
Line In & Mic In (AXIS 242S IV only) - 2 separate inputs for Line In and Mic In,
respectively. Note that these inputs are used for internal audio analysis only.
