density of antennas is relatively low (which consequently increases
RF emissions by the handset).
The Ministry of Health's stance is that it is still unclear whether
the use of cellular technology is related to increased risk of
cancerous and benign tumors. Nevertheless, in consideration of
the findings of the current study, the Ministry of Health indicates
that cellular telephones should be used with preventive caution in
mind.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Health recommends:
● The use of a speaker/cable connected headset or earphones.
Keeping the handset away from the body diminishes exposure to
RF emissions. It is therefore recommended during a call to have
the handset held away from the body (not carried on the waist belt,
in a pocket, or suspended from the neck strap). Reducing the
number and duration of calls is an additional simple means of
minimizing exposure to RF emission.
● To minimize the use of cellular telephones in locations of poor
reception, where the level of exposure to RF radiation increases
(e.g., areas with a sparse base station network as well as enclosed
places, such as elevators and trains). Poor reception is easily
noticeable by viewing the signal bar strength on the telephone
display.
● Children are particularly prone to developing cancer when
exposed to carcinogenic factors. The effect of exposure to RF
emissions by cellular telephones in children has not yet been
studied, as the use of cellular devices by this population group
started later than the adult one. It is recommended that special
caution is exercised with regard to children due to their age of
physical development and sensitivity to health issues, expected
increase in life expectancy (and subsequently expected increase of
cumulative, significant exposure as well as long-run morbidity),
and ethical issues involved in decisions made regarding minors.
● To minimize the use of the cellular telephone while driving, and
in any case of usage, to adhere to Traffic Regulation 28b. This
regulation states: "while the vehicle is in motion, the driver may not
hold a fixed or portable telephone device, and will not use them
