6. Cold weather precautions

If you moor your boat in cold weather

at temperatures below 0˚C (32˚F),
there is the danger of water freezing
in the cooling water pump, which

may damage the pump, impeller, etc.
To avoid this problem, tilt down and
submerge the lower unit under the

water.

7. Checking after striking underwater object

S t r i k i n g t h e s e a b o t t o m o r a n
underwater object may severely
d a m a g e t h e o u t b o a r d m o t o r.
Immediately bring the outboard motor
to the dealer and ask for the following
checks.
① Looseness or damage of power
unit installation bolts, gear case
and extension case bolts, propeller
or propeller shaft upper and lower
mount rubber bolts, and/or mount
bracket bolts.
Ask an authorized dealer to tighten
any loose bolts and nuts, and to
replace damaged parts.
② Damage to mount rubber, the tilt
stopper, thrust rod, gears and
clutch, and/or propeller.
Ask an authorized dealer to replace
damaged or defective parts.
