There is a dial tone, but I cannot hear any call tone. These
messages appear: "Line is in use", "Line is busy", "No
response" and "Unable to establish connection".
The line is currently in use.
Make sure the line is not used by a phone or another computer.
The settings of the dial mode are not correct.
Please confirm the settings as described below:
1. Open the Control Panel and double click on Telephony.
The Dialling Properties screen appears.
2. In Dial Mode, check if the Tone / Pulse settings are suitable for
the telephone line you are using.
For an ISDN line select Tone. For information on which kind of
telephone line you are using, please consult your telephone company.
3. Click on the OK button.
Depending on your application, you have to set 1 Opps / 2 Opps in
case you use pulse dial. For details, please refer to your application's
manual.
There is no dial tone and the following error message
appears: "No dial tone". The messages "No dial tone" or
"No dial tone. Please make sure the modem is connected
to the computer and the telephone line." appear on the
screen.
The modem cable is not connected.
Please check if the modem cable is connected.
For installing the modem cable,
the telephone line".
You are using a telephone line for internal/ external use.
The equipment is not set for using a telephone line where "0" has to be
pre-dialled. Please confirm the following points, before you perform the
setting:
With lines where "0" is used to reach an outside line, sometimes you
can only connect a special receiver and no other devices.
Sometimes a modem cannot be connected to a line, which goes
through a digital switching device (PBX). For details, please consult the
person who installed the PBX or the PBX manual.
