Problems with peripheral devices

Hardware.

Floppy disk/Floppy disk drive

I can't write (save) onto the floppy disk
It's not formatted.
You cannot write (save) onto an unformatted floppy disk.
It's write-protected.
Take out the floppy disk and bring it into the write-enabled mode.
For write-protected and write-enabled mode see the "Floppy disk drive"
section in Chapter 4.
The storage capacity of the floppy disk is too small.
Please follow the steps below:
Delete unwanted files and try again.
Use a different floppy disk.
An error message "Can't create file" appears
The root directory cannot hold anymore files.
Create a new folder and put the file in there.
The file doesn't open ("Reading error or Disk error" is
displayed)
The floppy disk drive is not working properly. Please try another
floppy disk.
There is a problem with the floppy disk. Please check the floppy disk
following the steps below.
1. Click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and Scan Disk.
2. Select 3.5 inch FD (:a) as the drive you want to have checked.
3. Press the Start button.
The Scan Disk starts.
The formatting takes a long time
You are formatting an unformatted floppy disk.
If you format a floppy disk for the first time in Windows, it can take some
time.
