Cause & Solution
L If you use a splitter to connect the unit, remove the splitter and
connect the unit to the wall jack directly. If the unit operates
properly, check the splitter.
L Disconnect the unit from the telephone line and connect a known
working telephone. If the working telephone operates properly,
contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired. If the
working telephone does not operate properly, contact your
telephone company.
L The power cord or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the
connections.
L If you connected the fax machine through a computer modem,
connect the fax machine directly to a telephone line jack.
L The call bar feature is set. Turn it OFF (feature #28 on page 66, or
page 74).
L The dialling mode setting may be wrong. Change the setting
(feature #13 on page 64, or page 77).
L The ringer volume is turned OFF. Adjust it (page 23).
Cause & Solution
L The paper is inserted halfway. Insert it correctly (page 18) and
press {START} to clear the message.
L FAX ONLY mode is set. Tell the other party the number is only used
for faxes.
L Change the receiving mode to TAM/FAX mode (page 47) or TEL
mode (page 46).
L If this button is pressed during dialling, a pause will be inserted. If
pressed immediately after a dial tone is obtained, the last number
dialled will be redialled.
L All or part of the numbers are the same as another code or ID.
Change the number:
– remote operation ID: page 59, or feature #11 on page 64.
– fax activation code: feature #41 on page 67.
