8.12 4FXS/4FXO/4E&M Module
Caution:
4FXS/4FXO module is equipped with an interface cable which has a toroidal magnetic core at one end. To
ensure the electromagnetic compatibility of the whole router, please connect the end with the toroidal
magnetic core to the router.
Because it's hard to determine the type of the remote switch and its connectors, the interface cable of
4E&M module has to be prepared according to the on-spot conditions, or the problem could be solved by
the user. To ensure the electromagnetic compatibility of the whole router, please install a toroidal magnetic
core near the connector of the prepared 2E&M module interface cable by the router side.

8.12.1 Introduction

The major function of 4FXS/4FXO/4E&M module is to implement the access and
processing of the 4-channel analog voice signal, and to deliver the transmission of the
voice signal over the data communications network.
4FXS (4-port analog subscriber) module can provide ordinary analog telephone
access.
4FXO (4-port loop trunk) and 4E&M (4-port E&M trunk) module can provide switch
trunk access.
Caution:
While connecting 4FXS/4FXO/4E&M, you have to make sure that the R2600/3600 series have been
equipped with at least one network module that can connect to the WAN to guarantee that the router can
be connected to the IP network or other WANs.

8.12.2 Appearance

The appearance of 4FXS/4FXO/4E&M is shown in the following figure:
