Quidway R2600/3600 Series Modular Routers
In case of upgrading VRP (Versatile Routing Platform, a software platform
independently developed by Huawei), it's necessary to expand memory.
If a large number of routing tables are maintained in the router, or there are some
tasks demanding huge memory, it's necessary to expand memory.
When booting the router, you will see the following prompt:

"64MB bytes DRAM" indicates that 64M DRAM has been installed in your router.
Note:
There is a limit on the times you can install the SIMMs.
I. SIMM location in Quidway R2600/3600 series routers
While removing a SIMM, please make sure the type of mainboard and the exact
position of the SIMM.
SIMM location in Quidway R2600/3600 series routers may vary with the type of system
card, as shown in the following figures:
Caution:
In R2600/3600 series:
1) If the Pentium CPU system card is replaced (for R2630/2631/3640/3680): add the SIMMs from the slot
near the CPU.
2) If the 8240 system card is replaced (R2630E/2631E/3640E/3680E): add the SIMMs from the slot far
from the CPU.
