Appendix J: Connect to External Storage Device

DVR-DS4TST, with the JBOD (Linear) functionality built-in, is a Network Attached Storage
System (NAS) which is specially designed for the DVR-4TH/ 8TH/ 16TH series DVR.
You SHOULD NOT remove DVR's internal HDD or shut down the DVR-DS4TST while the
connection is working. Below lists situations that may happen and the consequences if you
do so.
1.
Situation: Remove the DVR's internal HDD while the DVR is currently saving image
data to the DVR-DS4TST.
Disk error happens, and the DVR will not reboot. If you reboot the unit,
Result:
the DVR keeps saving image data to the DVR-DS4TST.
2.
Situation: Remove the DVR's internal HDD while the DVR is currently saving image
data to the internal HDD.
Result:
Disk error happens. The recording stops. After rebooting, the DVR starts
saving image data to the DVR-DS4TST.
