Note: In some instances, RAID 10 and RAID 50 arrays may survive multiple disk drive
failures, depending on which disk drives fail.

Failed SSD in maxCache Container

Because the maxCache Container is a redundant logical device, comprised of SSDs only, it is rebuilt
automatically when a failed SSD is replaced, just like an ordinary array. Once you identify the failed SSD,
for example, by using maxView Storage Manager's rapid fault isolation feature, replace it with a new
one (see
Connecting Solid State Drives (SSDs)
begins rebuilding the maxCache Container.

Resetting the Controller

You may need to reset, or flash, your Adaptec RAID controller if it becomes inoperable or if a firmware
upgrade is unsuccessful. Adaptec RAID controllers support a reset protocol called HDA mode flash. For
information about HDA mode, see the Readme on the installation DVD or contact your support
representative. To locate the flash jumper on your RAID controller board, see the illustrations in

on page 17.
