The course deviation (CDI) scale setting is adjustable
for ±0.25, 1.25 or 5.0 (nautical mile, statute mile, or
kilometer) full-scale deflection. The default setting is
1.25, which represents the distance from the center of
the CDI to full left or right limits. The course devia-
tion scale appears on the lower right corner of the
compass

To change the CDI scale:
1. With the Compass page displaying the Course
Pointer, press MENU.
2. Highlight Set CDI Scale and press ENTER.
3. Highlight the desired scale and press ENTER.

Your 76CS Plus uses an electronic compass that func-

tions like a magnetic compass when you are station-
ary. However, when you are moving, it uses data from
the GPS receiver to maintain your heading. When you
stop, it again operates like a magnetic compass.
You must calibrate the compass the first time you use
the unit and after you install new batteries. Refer to
page 7 for information about calibration.
