Section 6 - Distress calls

A valid USER MMSI must be entered into this radio before these DSC functions can be
used. See section 5-1.

6-1 Send a Distress call

Important Note: If there is no current GNSS valid data when the distress alert is initiated,
the equipment shall display that it is waiting for a GNSS position for 15 s and as soon as a
fix is obtained then the alert shall be transmitted. The waiting GPS screen will not appear
if there is already a valid GPS fix.

Open the red cover labelled DISTRESS.
If time is available to specify the nature of the distress, go to step 2. Otherwise, go
directly to step 3.

Press and release the DISTRESS key to display the following categories. Press
keys to select the category that describes your situation:
• UNDEFINED
• FIRE
• FLOODING
• COLLISION
• GROUNDING
• LISTING
• SINKING
• ADRIFT
• ABANDONING
• PIRACY
• OVER BOARD
