<Precautions for Connecting a Telephone to the Data Terminal>
• If a telephone is connected to the data terminal, check that the telephone complies
with FCC part 68.
• If a telephone which does not comply with FCC part 68 is used, the telephone con-
nection may be cut when data terminal transmission begins.

1. Plug in the AC plug for the data terminal, and
then turn it on.
2. Check that the External Panel Controller
appears in the computer screen, and then
display the Tech. Rep. Mode screen. (For
details about displaying the Tech. Rep. Mode
screen, refer to the Service Manual.)
3. Click [SMART].
4. Click [Modem].
5. Click [END].
