Microsoft Exchange Server Basics

The Backup Agent for Microsoft Exchange Server is a "go-between" that allows
BrightStor ARCserve Backup to back up and restore Exchange Server databases
and database objects. The Backup Agent helps BrightStor ARCserve Backup
retrieve and send data to and from the Exchange Server by interpreting and
transmitting commands and data. BrightStor ARCserve Backup supports
Microsoft Exchange Server versions 5.5 and Exchange 2000.
Using BrightStor ARCserve Backup and the Backup Agent, you can:
Remotely manage backups of Exchange Server databases, mailboxes, and
public folders.
Perform online database backups by taking advantage of the Exchange
Server's backup/restore Application Programming Interface (API) functions.
Schedule your backups by using the powerful BrightStor ARCserve Backup
Manager program.
Back up to a wide array of storage devices.
Perform online "brick-level" backups by using MAPI (Messaging
Application Programming Interface) functions.
Microsoft Exchange Server is a centralized corporate messaging system that
allows you to manage electronic mail and other messaging tools for your
organization from a single location. The Exchange Server allows you to exchange
information with anyone, even with people using different messaging systems.
