If the power-on password prompt does not appear, the brightness control
lever might be set to minimum brightness. Adjust the brightness level by
pressing the Fn+F6 key.
If the screen still remains blank, make sure that:
v The battery is installed correctly.
v The ac adapter is connected to the computer and the power cord is plugged
into a working electrical outlet.
v The computer power is on. (Turn on the power switch again for
confirmation.)
If these items are properly set, and the screen remains blank, have the
computer serviced.
Problem: The screen is blank and you hear two or more beeps, or a
continuous beep.
Solution: If you are using Ethernet:
v Make sure that the Ethernet cable is connected firmly.
v Contact your network administrator.
If the screen is still blank, and beeps are not stopped, have the computer
serviced.
Problem: Only the cursor appears.
Solution: Reinstall your operating system, and turn on the computer. If you
still see only the cursor on the screen, have the computer serviced.

Power switch problem

Problem: The system does not respond, and you cannot turn off the computer.
Solution: Press the power switch to turn off the computer, and then turn it on
again. If the power does not go off, press the reset button, shown below.

TrackPoint problems

Problem: The cursor drifts when the computer is turned on or after it resumes
normal operation.
Solution: The cursor may drift when you are not using the TrackPoint
during normal operation. This is a normal characteristic of the TrackPoint and
is not a defect. Cursor drifting may occur for several seconds under the
following conditions:
v When the computer is turned on.
v When the computer resumes normal operation.
