If the snowthrowerwill not beusedfor30daysor longer, o r if it is theendof thesnowseason whenthe lastpossibility of snowisgone,the equipmentneeds to bestored
properly.Follow storageinstructions belowto ensuretop performance f rom the snowthrowerformanymoreyears.
Preparingthe engine
Engines s toredover30daysneedto bedrained of fuel to prevent d eterioration and
gumfromforminginthe fuel system oron essential c arburetor p arts.Ifthe gasoline
inyourenginedeteriorates d uringstorage, y ou mayneed to havethecarburetor,
andotherfuel system components, serviced or replaced.
1.
Remove a ll fuel fromthe tank byrunningthe engineuntil it stops.
2.
Change theengineoil.
3.
Remove t he sparkplugandpourapproximately 1oz.(30ml) of deanengine
oil into the cylinder. P ullthe recoil s tarterseveral timesto distributethe oil,
andreinstallthe sparkplug.
4.
Clean the exteriorof the enginebydiscarding dirt anddebris from the
followingareas:
Donot spraythe enginewith water to clean it becausethe water could
contaminatethe fuel. Using a garden hose or pressure w ashingequipment
can alsoforce water intothe muffler opening. Waterthat passes t hrough
the muffler can enterthe cylinder andcausedamage.

Storeinaclean,dry andwell ventilatedareaawayfromanyappliance
thatoperates with aflameor pilotlight,such asafurnace, w aterheateror
clothesdryer. A voidanyareawitha sparkproducing electricmotor,or where
powertoolsareoperated.

Ifthe snowthrowerwill not beusedfor 30daysor longer, f ollowthe instructions
below.
1.
Store the equipmentinaclean,dry area.
2.
Wipedownthe snowthrowerwith a ragandremove anydirt or debris.
3.
Ifstoringthe snowthrowerinan unventilated area,rustproof t he metal
partsof the machine with alight oil or silicone coating.
Neverstore snowthrower with fuel in tank indoorsor in poorlyventilated
areas,where fuel fumes may reachan openflame, sparkor pilotlight ason
a furnace,water heater,clothesdryeror gasappliance.
6.
If possible, avoidstorage areas with high humidity.
7.
Keep the enginelevelinstorage. T iltingthe engine cancause fuel or oil
leakage.
