Always wearsafetyglasses or eyeshields duringoperationandwhile
performinganadjustment o r repairto protectyoureyes. T hrown objects
whichricochetcancause serious injury to the eyes.
Donotoperate withoutwearing adequate winteroutergarments. D onot wear
jewelry,longscarves o r otherloose clothing, w hichcouldbecome entangled in
moving parts.Wear f ootwear whichwill improve footingonslipperysurfaces.
Use a grounded three-wkeextension cordandreceptacle f orall machines
with electricstartengines.
Disengage a ll control l eversbeforestartingthe engine.
Never a ttemptto makeanyadjustments whileengineisrunning,except
wherespecifically recommended i nthe operator's manual.
Letengineandmachine adjustto outdoortemperature beforestartingto
clearsnow.
Safe Handling
of Gasoline:
Toavoid personalinjuryor property damageuseextreme carein handling
gasoline.Gasolineisextremely flammable andthe vaporsareexplosive.
Seriouspersonalinjurycan occurwhen gasolineis spilledon yourself o r your
clotheswhich canignite. Washyourskinandchangeclothesimmediately.
Use onlyanapproved gasoline container.
Extinguish all cigarettes, c igars, p ipesandothersources ofignition.
Neverfuel machine indoors.
Neverremove gascapor addfuel whilethe engineishot or running.
Allowengineto coolat leasttwo minutesbeforerefueling.
Neveroverfillfuel tank.Filltankto nomorethan1/2 inchbelowbottomof
filler neckto providespace forfuel expansion.
Replace g asoline capandtightensecurely.
Ifgasoline isspilled,wipeit off the engineandequipment. M ovemachine to
anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbefore startingtheengine.
Neverstorethe machine or fuel container i nside wherethereisanopen
flame,sparkor pilot light (e.g.furnace, w aterheater, s paceheater, c lothes
dryeretc.).
Allow machine to coolat least5 minutesbefore storing.
Neverfill containers inside a vehicle or ona truckor trailerbedwitha plastic
liner.Alwaysplacecontainers onthe groundawayfrom yourvehiclebefore
filling.
Ifpossible, r emove gas-powered e quipmentfromthe truckor trailerand
refuelit on theground.Ifthis isnot possible, then refuel s uchequipment
on atrailerwith a portablecontainer, ratherthanfromagasoline dispenser
nozzle.
Keep the nozzleincontactwith the rim ofthe fuel tankor container o pening
at all timesuntil fuelingiscomplete. D onot usea nozzle lock-open device.
