Skid Shoes
Thesnowthrowerskidshoes areadjustedupwardat the factoryforshipping
purposes. Adjustthemdownward, i f desired, p riorto operatingthe snowthrower.
it is notrecommended t hat you operatethis snowthrower on gravelas
it caneasilypickup andthrowloosegravel,causing personalinjuryor
damageto the snow thrower andsurroundingproperty.
Forclose snowremoval o n asmoothsurface, r aiseskidshoes higheronthe
augerhousing.Refer t o Figure 15.
Use a middleor lowerpositionwhentheareato becleared is uneven, s uch as
agraveldriveway.
NOTE: Ifyouchoose to operatethe snowthrowerona gravel s urface, k eep
the skidshoes inpositionformaximum clearance between the groundand
the shave plate.
Toadjustthe skidshoes:
1. Loosen the four hexnuts (two oneachside)andcarriage bolts.Moveskid
shoes to desired position. See Figure 15.
2. Makecertainthe entirebottomsurface of skidshoeisagainstthegroundto
avoiduneven wearon the skidshoes.
3. Retighten nutsandboltssecurely.
Auger Control
Priorto operatingyoursnowthrower, c arefully readand follow all
instructions b elow. Performall adjustmentsto verify yoursnowthroweris
operating safelyand properly.
Check t he adjustmentofthe augercontrol a sfollows:
1. Theaugercontrolislocated on the left handle.SeeFigure 16inset.When
the augercontrolisreleased andinthe disengaged "up"position,the cable
shouldhaveverylittle slack. I tshouldNOT betight.
2. Ina well-ventilated area,start the snowthrowerengine.Refer t o Starting
the Engine inthe Operation section.
3. Whilestandinginthe operator's position(behindthe snowthrower), e ngage
the auger.
4. Allowthe augerto remainengaged for approximately t en (10)seconds
beforereleasing the augercontrol.Repeat t hisseveral times.
5. With theaugercontrol i n the disengaged " up" position, w alkto the front of
the machine.
6.
Confirm that the augerhascompletely stoppedrotatingandshows NOsigns
of motion.Ifthe augershows ANY signs of rotating,immediately returnto
the operator's positionandshut off the engine.WaitforALLmovingpartsto
stopbefore adjustingthe augercontrol.

8. Position the bracketupwardto providemoreslack (ordownwardto increase
cabletension).
9. Retighten the upperhexbolt.
10. Repeat steps2-6above to verifyproperadjustment h asbeenachieved.
