Things to check
Have you checked the
network environment?
Is paper loaded?
Has the toner run out? Has
the drum cartridge reached
the end of its life?
Is the system memory of the
computer insufficient?
Is the printer driver
installed?
Is the correct printer
selected?
Is the printing port correct?
Are you printing from Mac
OS X 10.2 via USB cable?
Is the right printer driver
installed on your computer?
Is user authentication set?
Countermeasure
See chapter 4, "Cannot connect to the
network" in "Troubleshooting" in the
Administrator's Guide to check the network
environment.
Load the paper properly. For details, see
"Loading Paper" in the User's Guide.
Check the screen of the machine, and if
a message is displayed, replace the toner
cartridge and drum cartridge. For details, see
chapter 3, "Replacing consumables" in the
Administrator's Guide.
Check whether the memory capacity of the
computer meets the requirements.
If the requirements are not met, increase
the memory of the computer. If multiple
applications or unnecessary resident
programs are running, close them.
Install the printer drivers. For details, see
"Installing the driver" (page 1-1).
Select your desired printer in the print menu
of the application.
Check whether the printing port is correct
in the properties screen of the printer driver.
See the help, etc. for your computer.
If the machine is connected via a USB cable,
confirm that "USBxx" (where "xx" refers to
the port number) is selected. If the machine
is connected via a network, confirm that an
lpr port with the same address as the IP
address set in the machine is selected.
When you print from Mac via USB cable, the
following settings are not available: Paper
Type, Toner Saving, Print Density, Binding
Width (Front), and Binding Width (Back).
Print via network or upgrade your Mac
version to Mac OS X 10.3 or later.
When you have installed a network printer
driver in advance and then tried to install
a driver using plug-and-play, the correct
printer driver may not be installed.
If the correct printer driver is not installed,
reinstall it using the "Add Printer" wizard.

According to the machine policy, you cannot
print documents when user authentication is
not set. Set the user authentication in such
case. For details, see
""Extended Functions"
tab" (page
2-10).
