Introduction

Instructions for removing and replacing Mass Storage Devices (internal) are in this sec-
tion. The procedures for all devices are the same. Devices include the following:
3.5-inch Flexible Disk Drive
Hard Disk Drives
CD-ROM Drive
DDS Tape Drive

Preliminary Requirements

Before you remove the Mass Storage Module perform the following:
1 Before system shut down is performed you should execute ioscan, and record the SCSI
addresses in-use.
2 Shut down any applications.
3 Shut down the Operating System.
4 Refer to the owner's guide, for information on properly shutting down HP-UX.
5 Turn off power to the Model 748.
6 Set up a static-free work place to handle the mass storage tray.
