C. FRAME RATE
One of the most important specifications of any thermal imaging
device is frame rate. This refers to the number of frames per sec-
ond that can be viewed by the device. The lower the frame rate,
the choppier the motion. Conversely, the higher the frame rate, the
more precise the motion. This is especially critical in weapon scope
applications that require precise and quick acquisition.
Standard professional thermal systems come in 30hz (Fast Imag-
ing or FI) while many commercial viewers run at 9hz (Standard Im-
aging or SI). In 2012, ATN is proud to offer 60hz (Enhanced Imaging
or EI) options for most of its thermal systems. With Enhanced Im-
aging you will never have to worry about hitting behind the moving
target because your skill outpaces the technology in your scope.
