Extension control unit (AJ-EC3P)

The extension control unit (AJ-EC3P), available as an optional
accessory, can be connected to this unit.

Before performing the connections

Check the AJ-EC3P version before performing the connections.
If the final 4 digits of the serial number on the rear section of the AJ-
EC3P are 0102 or earlier, it is necessary to update the software in
the AJ-EC3P. If they are 0103 or later, the unit can be used as is.
Please consult the nearest dealer or service center for details on
upgrading the software.

Concerning the modes

Perform the connections that correspond to
the AJ-EC3P's Operating Instructions.
This mode differs from the
Mode 1
camera recorders in the following ways:
≥ The menu contents for the AJ-D10A apply instead of the menu
contents set forth in the AJ-EC3P's Operating Instructions.
The menu items appear on the viewfinder screen as well.
Switch operations when the
extension control unit is connected
When the AJ-EC3P is connected and its power is turned on,
following switches and buttons on this unit are no longer
operational:
≥ GAIN selector switch
≥ OUTPUT/AUTO KNEE selector switch
≥ WHITE BAL switch
≥ SHUTTER switch
≥ FULL AUTO button
≥ AUTO IRIS MODE selector switch (fixed at STD)
≥ QUICK FOCUS button

Operating the AJ-EC3P's VRs

The changes to the settings initiated by the VRs on the AJ-EC3P
will be canceled when the AJ-EC3P is disconnected or the AJ-
EC3P's power is turned off.
<Reference>
When the AJ-EC3P is re-connected or when its power is turned on,
the settings will be returned to the changed values provided that the
positions of the VRs remain unchanged.

VR center values of the AJ-EC3P

When the unit is connected to the AJ-EC3P, the AJ-EC3P's VR
center values (the values applying when the controls are set to their
center positions) are the numerical values which have been set on
the unit's menus or they are preset values or they are set to zero.
KNEE POINT VR: ............The KNEE POINT (see page 34) setting
serves as the center value. However, it
is the OUTPUT/AUTO KNEE switch on
the EC3P that is operational, and this
applies only when CAM.AUTO KNEE
OFF has been selected.
KNEE SLOPE VR: ...........The SLOPE value preset for MANUAL
KNEE when the AJ-EC3P3 is not
connected serves as the center value.
However, it is the OUTPUT/AUTO KNEE
switch on the EC3P that is operational,
and this applies only when CAM.AUTO
KNEE OFF has been selected.
GAMMA VR: ....................The MASTER GAMMA (see page 33)
setting serves as the center value.
M.PED VR: .......................The MASTER PED (see page 34) setting
serves as the center value.
DETAIL VR: .....................The H DETAIL and V DETAIL (see page
34) settings serve as the center values.
IRIS VR: ...........................In the AUTO IRIS mode, the A IRIS
LEVEL (see page 33) setting serves as
the center value. In the MANUAL IRIS
mode, the VR has no center. The iris is
closed
counterclockwise as far as it will go; it is
opened when it is turned clockwise as far
as it will go.
PAINTING GAIN VR: .......The VR has no center. It is reset to zero
when AWB or ABB is executed.
<Note>
≥ To make the IRIS VR operation effective, set the A (AUTO)/M
(MANUAL) switch of the lens being used to A.
≥ Each of the AJ-EC3P's VRs functions in such a way as to allow
for some variation of the center values, therefore when the values
have been set on the unit's menus, it may not be possible to
cover all setting options.
