05 Locks and alarm
Locking and unlocking
NOTE
If the LOCK button is used to unlock the
tailgate without it being opened then it is
relocked automatically after approx.
2 minutes.
Deadlocks*
The car has a special deadlock function, which
means that the doors cannot be opened from
the inside if they are locked.
Deadlocks can only be activated from the out-
side by means of the driver's door being locked
with the remote control key. All doors must be
closed before deadlocks can be activated.
05
Once activated, the doors cannot be opened
from the inside.
The car can only be unlocked manually from
the outside via the driver's door or with the
remote control key.
Deadlocks are engaged after a 25 second
delay after the doors have been closed.

Temporary deactivation
If someone is going to stay in the car but the
doors must be locked from the outside, then
the deadlocks function can be temporarily
switched off.
1. Insert the remote control key into the igni-
tion switch, turn it to key position II and
then back to position I or 0.
2. Press the button.
If the car is equipped with an alarm, movement
and tilt detectors are also deactivated, see
page 124.
The lamp in the button illuminates until the car
is locked with the remote control key. A mes-
sage is shown on the display as long as the
remote control key remains in the ignition
switch.
Next time the engine is started the system is
reset to zero and the deadlocks function and
the alarm's movement and tilt detectors are
then re-engaged.
NOTE
If the car is equipped with an alarm:
Remember that the car's alarm is armed
when the car is locked.
If any of the doors are opened from the
inside then the alarm will be triggered.
WARNING
Do not allow anyone to remain in the car
without deactivating the deadlocks func-
tion.
