camshafts, 24 valves. Continually variable valve timing (CVVT) on the inlet

converter with Lambda sensor. Electronic engine management.
Five-cylinder petrol engine
Inline five-cylinder petrol light-pressure turbo engine. Double overhead
camshafts, 20 valves. Continuously variable valve timing (CVVT) on the
inlet and exhaust side. Charge-air cooler (Intercooler). Three-way catalytic
converter with Lambda sensor. Electronic engine management.
Five-cylinder diesel engine
All-aluminium direct-injection common rail turbodiesel. Double overhead
camshafts, 20 valves. Variable turbocharger. Charge-air cooler
(Intercooler). Two-way catalytic converter with EGR. Electronic engine
management.
DRIVELINE
Electronically-controlled AWD all-wheel drive with Haldex coupling and
TRACS anti-spin system. Transverse engine. Volvo XC90 T6: four-speed
Geartronic adaptive automatic transmission which allows manual shifts.
Volvo XC90 2,5T and Volvo XC90 D5: five-speed Geartronic is standard
until later in 2003 and optional thereafter. A six-speed manual transmission
will be standard in the Volvo XC90 2.5T and D5 later in 2003.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Multiplex digital electrical system with OBD (On Board Diagnosis). Battery
capacity 12 V, 600 alt 800 A. Alternator 140 alt 160 A.
Multiplex optical/digital infotainment system with MOST (Media Oriented
Systems Transport)
STEERING GEAR
Power-assisted rack and pinion steering gear. Steplessly adjustable
