Please make sure that you are using version 4.6 or version 4.7
of the Messenger. Microsoft offers a version 5.0 which does not cover SIP
voice calls; the product has been split up into different components.
Microsoft Messenger supports SIP; however make sure that
you are using version 4.6 or 4.7, because Microsoft split up Microsoft
Messenger into separate products. The new Microsoft Messenger version
5.0 does not support voice communication using SIP.
After starting Microsoft Messenger go to the Extras menu and
select Options. Go to Accounts and select the Communication Services
account. If you push at the Advanced button, you should see a dialogue
where you can select the transport layer. Because the proxy does not
support TLS you should select either UDP or TCP; however normally that
is being done automatically. You don't have to fill in the server address.
Close the window and fill in the account name under the
communication services field (like user@company.com). Then press OK,
the Microsoft Messenger should start the registration process.
If you set up a user name and password on the proxy, Microsoft
messenger will prompt you for this user name password combination. Fill
it in and try again.
