If changingthedeck belt with the cuttingdeck still installedon the
unit, lowerthe cuttingdeck to the lowestcutting position.Remove
the deck beltfrom aroundthe unit'sPTOdrive pulleyas shownin
Fig. 31.Simplyroll one sideof the beltoff of the pulleyand then
work it off the pulleyby continuingaroundthe pulleyuntilthe belt
is off of the pulley.

Pull the belttowardsthe rear of the unit, pullingit throughand out
of the belt keeperbracket,shownin Fig. 31.

Removethedeck belt coverby removingthe threehexbolts that
secureit. See Fig. 35.

Neverexceedthe maximuminflationpressureshownon the sidewall

The recommended
operating
tire pressure
is:
Approximately 10 psifor the reartires
Approximately 14psi for thefront tires
IMPORTANT: Referto the tire sidewallfor exacttire manufacturer's
recommended or maximumpsi. Donot overinfiate.Uneventirepres-
surecouldcausethe cuttingdeckto mowunevenly.
CUTTING
BLADE
Shutthe engineoff and removeignitionkey beforeremovingthe
cuttingblade for sharpeningor replacement. P rotectyourhandsby
_usng heavyg oves whengraspng the bade.
Periodically inspectthe bladeand/or spindlefor cracksor damage,
especiallyafter you'vestrucka foreignobject.Do notoperatethe
machineuntil damagedcomponentsare replaced.
To removethe blade,proceedas follows.
NOTE: It may be easiertochangethe blade byfirst removing
the deck from beneaththetractor,(referto CuttingDeckRemoval
earlier inthis section)thengently flipthe deck overto exposeits
underside.Itis possibleto changethe blade,however,with the
deck still attachedto the tractor.If attemptingto changethe blade
with the deck still installed on the tractor,firstmovethe deck lift
leverto itshighestcuttingposition.
1.
Removethe mulchplug,deck chute or baggingchute,if
equipped,exposingthe deck chuteopening.
2.
Usinga blockof woodor 2 x 4, insertit intothe deckopeningand
rotatethe bladearounduntilit wedgesthe woodbetweenthe
deck openingand the cuttingblade,as shownin Fig.37.
3.
Removethe hexflangenut that securesthe bladeto the spindle
assembly,and removethe blade.Seethe Inset of Fig.37.
NOTE: Thedeck spindlehasa normalthread.Toloosen,rotate
the flangelock nut counterclockwise.

Changethe belt, thenreinstallthe all the componentsremoved
in the reverseorder beginning with theidler pulley,and lastlythe
beltcover.

Feedthedeck beltthroughthe belt keeperbracketand work it
aroundand ontothe PTOdrivepulleyas shownin Fig. 31.
