Disc Library
The disc library accessesinformation about whatyou've recorded onto discs.Details of this feature and the submenus are described on page3 I,
Timers
Timer You can add timers and view or edit existing timers flora this menu for automatic recording.Timer recordings are especiallyuseful when you have a favorite program
that you want to record every week and/or every day.If you use a cable box, the cable box must be On and tuned to the channelyou want to record, during the timer
recording; if you're recording from satellite, the satellite serotopbox, also called a receive_must be On and tuned to the channelyou want to record. For details about setting
up a timer, go to page30.

Parental
ControJs
You can set up ratings limits and turn on the Parental Control feature in order to control the type of discs people can play in the DVD/VCR.The padlock icon on the Loci<
menu indicates whether the player is locked or unlocked,
Le¢ked:You need to enter the password in order to play discsthat have a higher rating than what you've allowed.When the player is locked, nobody can accessthe
Lock menu without entering the password.
Unlocked: No password required to play discs,Even if you've set ratings limits, they won't be enforced when the player is unlocked.

Don't confuse the DVDfVCR's Parental Control feature
with a pareatal
centro_ feature
that
may be in your T¥, often

refer to discs that you play in the recorder, not TV prograras.

Lock (and Unlock)
I. From the DVD/VCR's main menu,select Setupand press OK (the Setupmenu items appear),
2. SincePorentdlControlis highlighted,just pressthe OK button (the Pdrentdl C ontrolmenu items
appear).
3. SinceLock is highlighted,just press the OK button on the remote.
4. If prompted to enter a password, use the number buttons on the remote control and press OK
(ConfirmPasswnrd appears).Enter the same numbers you entered before and press OK.
5, To return to the previous menu, press the left arrow button.
Once the player is locked, you'll needto enter the password everytime you accessthe PurentdCentrals
menu.
Note:The player isshipped without any rating limits s et.You need to set Ratings Umits (go
to page50 for instructions) in order for the player to prevent people from playingdiscs with
certain ratiags.
Rating
Limits
The Rating Limitsmenu lets you determine what types of discs can be playedin the player,and what
types of discs will require a password to override the rating limit that you've set. In the U.S.,the
ratings feature is based on the ratings set up by the PIPAA(Notion Pictures Association of America)
such as R,PG, G, etc,
The system ranks the ratings from I to 8 in order to accommodate ratings systems used in other
countries ( ! is considered material that is least offensive and 8 is considered the most offensive),
Note: In order for the Ratingsto he enforced, the DYD/VCt_ faust be locked and the disc you're
playing must contain a movie (or a tit_e) that is rated.
