FINISHING
YOUR
SETUP
Setting up your VCR with the QuickSet Guide can take you to many
different on-screen displays depending on the options you chose. For
example, after completing the auto channel search, you will see a
screen asking if you want to set up your VCR to control a satellite
receiver.

No
Of course,
if you have no satellite
receiver, you will select "NO"
for
this screen. If you do have satellite
service, make sure you see the next
section,
Setting Up Your VCR, for important
information
about how
your VCR works with your satellite
receiver
before you complete
the
next steps in the set up.
Another important series of steps in the QuickSet Guide is when you are
asked to set up your VCR Plus+ Gold programming system. Through
this system, your VCR automatically downloads information sent by
local broadcasters to assign channel numbers to corresponding stations
so you don't have to "map" the channels manually (tell your VCR which
station is on what channel). This step is identified by the screen:

If you select "Later" in the SETUP menu, then downloading the
information will occur overnight. This method allows you to watch
and record programming, through your VCR, but you cannot use the
VCR Plus+ system programming codes until the next day (after all,
your VCR doesn't know which channel is which yet).
