MAINTENANCE
SCHEDULE
TO ADJUST DRIVE BELT:
1. Remove belt guard.
2. Loosen the four fasteners holding
the motor to the baseplate.
3, Shift the motor in the proper
direction,
The belt must be properly
aligned when adjustment
is made,
4. Adjust flywheel
or motor
pulley so
that the beh runs straight,
S. If necessary, use a gear puller to
move the pulley on the motor shaft.
Tighten
setscrew after pulley is
positioned,
6. Attach belt guard,
STORAGE
1. When not in use. hose and
compressor
should be stored
in a
teal
dry place.
Check Oil Level
Drain Tank
Check Air Filter
Check Safety Valve
Clean Unit
Check Belt Tightness
Change Oil
2. Tanks should
be drained of moisture.
and hose should be disconnected and
hung with open ends down to allow
any rnoi_ure to drain.
3. Protect the electrical cord from
possible damage
by winding
the
cord loosely around the handle of
the unit or coiling the cord up,

Low discharge pressure
1. Air demand exceeds

1. Reduce air demand or use a compressor with more capacity.
2. Listen for escaping air. Applx. soap solution to all fittings
and connections_lubbles
w011appear at points of leakage.
Tighten or replace leaking fittings or connections.
3. Clean the air filter element.
4. Replace anygaskets
proven faulty on inspection.
5. Remove head and inspect for valve breakage, misaligned
valves, damaged
valve seats, etc. Replace defective pa_s and
reassemble.
Pump overheating
causes air

Excessive noise

1. Loosemotor or compressorpulleysare a very commQncause
of compressors knocking. Tighten pulley damp bolts and set-
scrow_
2. Checkfor proper oil level; if low, checkfor possible damage
to bearings. Dire/oil can cause excessive wear.
3. Replaceconnecting rod. Maintain oil level and changeoil
mo_ frequently.
4. Remove piston assembliesfrom the compressorand inspect
for excesswear. Replaceexcessively worn p_on pin or
pistons,as required. Maintain oil level and change oil more
f_'€luenUy..
5. Remove the compressorhead and valve plate and inspectfor
carbon depositsor other foreign matter on top of piston.
Replacehead and valve plate usingnew gasket. See
Lubrication sectionfor recommended oil.
