It is importantto preventgumdepositsfrom formingin essentialfuel
systemparts of the enginesuch as the carburetor, f uel filter,fuel hose,
or tank duringshort-termstorage(15-30days).To preventthis,treat
the fuelsystemusinga fuel stabilizer.
Fuelstabilizer(such as STA-BIL
T M
or ULTRA-FRESH
T M)
is an accept-
able alternativein minimizingthe formationof fuelgum depositsduring
storage.Add stabilizerto gasolinein fueltank or storagecontainer.
Alwaysfollow mix ratiofoundon stabilizercontainer.Runengine at
least 10 minutesafter addingstabilizerto allowit to reachthe carbure-
tor.
Neverstoresnow throwerwith fuel in tank indoorsor in poorlyventi-
latedareas,wherefuelfumesmay reachan open flame,spark or pilo
ght as on a furnace,water heater,clothesdryer or gas appliance.

Whenstoringthe snowthrowerin an unventilatedor metalstor-
age shed, careshouldbe taken to rustproofthe equipment.Using
a light oil or silicone,coat the equipment,especiallyanychains,
springs,bearingsand cables.

Removeall dirt fromexteriorof engineand equipment.

Followlubricationrecommendations.

Storeequipmentin a clean,dry area.
Alcoholblendedfuels (calledgasoholor usingethanolor methanol)
canattract moisturewhich leadsto separationand formationof acids
duringstorage.Acidicgas can damagethe fuelsystemof an engine

Storage
Toavoidengineproblems,thefuel systemshouldbe emptiedbefore
storagefor 30 daysor longer.
Fuelleft in engineduringwarm weatherdeterioratesand will cause
seriousstartingproblems.

1. Runthe engineuntil thefuel tank is emptyand it stops due to lack
of fuel. Do notattemptto pourfuel fromthe engine.

2. Removethe spark plug and pourone (1) ounceof engineoil
throughthe sparkplug hole intothe cylinder.Coverspark plug hole
with a rag and crankthe engineseveraltimesto distributethe oil.
