General Recommendations
Regular maintenancewiii improve the performance and
extend the life of the generator. See any Sears or other
qualified dealer for service.
The generator's warranty does not cover items that have
been subjected to operator abuse or negligence. To receive
fuIi value from the warranty, the operator must maintain
generator as instructed in this manual.
Some adjustments wiii need to be made periodicafly to
properly maintain your generator.
AII service and adjustments should be made at least once
each season. Follow the requirements in the Maintenance
Schedu/echart above.
NOTE:Oncea year you should clean or replace the spark
plug and replace the air filter. A new spark plug and clean air
filter assure proper fuePair mixture and help your engine run
better and last longer.
EmissieBs Control
Maintenance, repiacementor repair of the emissions control
devices and systems may be performed by any non=road
engine repair establishment or individual.
Generator iVlaintenance
Generatormaintenanceconsists of keepingthe unit cban and
dry. Operateand store the unit in a clean dry environment
where it wilI not be exposed to excessive dust, dirt, moisture
or any corrosive vapors. Cooling air slots in the generator
must not become clogged with snow, leaves,or any other
foreign material.
Checkthe cleanliness of the generator frequently and clean
when dust, dirt, oii, moisture or other foreign substances are
visible on its exterior surface.
NOTE:DO NOT use a garden hose to clean generator. Water
can enter the engine fuei system and cause problems, in
addition, if water enters the generator through cooiing air
slots, some of the water wiii be retained in voids and cracks
of the rotor and stator winding insulation. Water and dirt
buiidup on the generator internai windings wiii eventually
decrease the insuiation resistance of these windings.
Generater Cleaning
Daiiy or before use, clean accumulated debris from
generator. Keep iinkage, spring and controis clean. Keeparea
around and behind muffler free from any combustibie debris.
Inspect cooiing air slots and openings on the generator.
These openings must be kept clean and unobstructed.
Generator parts shouid be kept ctean to reducethe risk of
overheating and ignition of accumulated debris.
o Use a damp cloth to wipe exterior surfaces ciean.
NOTICE
Improper treatment of generator can damage it and
shorten its life.
DONOTexpose generator t o excessive rnoisture, d usLdirL or
corrosivevapors.
DONOTinsertanyobjectsthroughcoolingslots.
o Use a soft bristle brush to ioosen caked on dirt, off, etc.
o Usea vacuumcleanerto pick up loose dirt and debris.
