Oil Boiler/Burner CleaningInstructions
1. Shutoff alIelectricaI p owertotheboiler/burner a ndshut offfuel supply.
2. Remove the sheetmetalsmokepipefrom thetop d the boiler.Inspect
pipe and chimneyfor signs of corrosionand deterioration. Cleanbase
ofchimney.
3. Remove topjacketpanel.
4. Remove the two brasswingnutsholding theflueccllector f op.
5. Checkthegasketon the underside of thefluecollector a ndreplaceas
necessary.
6. Remove the oil burner(threecapscrews).-OR-
Removethe oil burner/fire door assembly(fourhex nuts).This is the
recommendedmethod,as it allows full access to the combustion
chamber andlesspotential damage to thetargetwallduringthecleaning
process.
7. Remove the burnerdrawerassembly. C leanany sootaccumulations.
8. Replace theburnernozzlewiththe exactsizeandtype recommended
for us onthis boiler.
Note:Changing to a differentfiringrate,otherthanis recommended, or type
of nozzle may changethe performance of this boiler and/orcausea
hazardous condition.
9. Cleanelectrode assembly andset electrodes asper burner
manufacturers r ecommendations.
10. Reinstall d rawerassembly and checkfor properheadlocation as per
the manufacturer's recommendations.
11. Inspect t hetargetwail,blanket,andfiredoorinsulation forcracking and
deterioration. If thereis anysignsof cracking or deterioration, replace
beforereassembling t he boiler.
12. Removesootfrom firesidesurfaces by brushingdiagonally throughthe
flue passages(see drawing).Care should be taken so as not to
damage thetargetwallwith thefluebrush.
13. Carefully vacuumsootaccumulations fromthecombustion chamber
area,beingparticularly carefulnottodamagethetargetwailandblanket
with thevacuum. T arget w alland blanket m ustbein goodcondition and
correctly installed to insureproper combustion.

Reinstall t heburner/fire doorassembly.
15.
Reinstall thefluecollector t opandsecurewiththetwobrasswingnuts.
16. ReinstalI thetopjacketpanel.Reconnect thefluepipe.
17. Inspect a nd cleantheoil burnerblowerwheel.
18.
Oilthe burner motor(DONOTOVEROIL}.
19. Remove the oil pumpcoverandclean/replace thepumpscreen.Carefully
reassemble.
20.Replace thefuelfilter (ifapplicable).
21.Reconnect the electrical andfuelsupplies.
22. Fire the burner,checkingfor proper combustion usingcombustion test
equipment, makingadjustments a s necessary.
23. Insure thatall safetycontrolsandoperating controls arefunctioning
properly.
